What do the test results mean?

An endocervical culture may show any of the following conditions:

  • cervicitis, or an inflammation of the cervix
  • pelvic inflammatory disease
  • a sexually transmitted disease, including Neisseria gonorrhoeae\ bacteria. The infection is usually acquired through sexual contact.
