Symptoms & Signs

What are the signs and symptoms of the disease?

Symptoms of pancreatitis include:

  • severe abdominal pain, usually in the upper mid-abdomen, possibly penetrating to the back
  • abdominal swelling
  • nausea and vomiting
  • weight loss
  • mild jaundice, or a yellow tint to the skin
  • fever and chills
  • excessive sweating
  • clammy skin
  • rapid heart beat
  • shallow, rapid breathing
  • weakness
  • light colored and greasy stools, which are more common in chronic pancreatitis
