In adults, the symptoms include:

  • shortness of breath
  • chest pain
  • fever
  • weight loss

  • In children, the symptoms include:

  • failure to thrive
  • weight loss
  • irritability
  • fever
  • a yellowish-pink scaling of the scalp
  • bone pain
  • bone fractures
  • rash
