What are the signs and symptoms of the disease?

People with this disease are often male, between the ages of 20 and 50.

A person with this disease usually appears quite ill. Symptoms may include:

  • high fever and chills
  • sweating at night, called night sweats
  • a cough
  • chest pain
  • rapid heart beat, known as tachycardia
  • low blood pressure
  • shock
