Operation, Blalock-Taussig: Surgical procedure named for the American surgeon Alfred Blalock (1899-1964) and the pediatric cardiologist Helen B. Taussig (1898-1986) who designed the first ôblue-babyö operation to treat children born with a heart malformation (tetralogy of Fallot) in 1945. This surgery was a landmark in the history of childrenÆs heart surgery.
