Health Tip: Protect Your Ears

(HealthDay News) -- Exposure to very loud noise can cause permanent damage to your hearing. Some of the most common causes of noise-induced hearing loss are from listening to headphones too loudly, attending loud concerts, or working at construction sites or in factories with consistent loud noise.

There are easy ways to protect yourself from hearing loss, says the Nemours Foundation. If you work in a loud environment, wear earplugs every day. Ear plugs may also save your hearing if you''re attending a rock concert, mowing the lawn, or using a loud tool.

When listening to music with headphones, don''t turn up the volume too high, and keep the volume on your car radio at a moderate level.
