(HealthDay News) -- If your child''s sweet tooth is wreaking havoc with your plans for a healthy diet, here''s a list of suggestions, courtesy of the University of Michigan Health System:
- Allow a moderate amount of sweet treats -- but don''t ban sweets entirely from your child''s diet. Declaring them taboo may only make your child want them more.
- Don''t keep lots of sweets around the house.
- When you do allow your child to have sweets, be sure to limit the amount.
- Try to save sweets for dessert, rather than as a snack. The sugar will be better tolerated after a healthy meal than when eaten alone.
