(HealthDay News) -- Carbon monoxide is an invisible, odorless gas that is emitted by stoves, gas cooking ranges, heating systems, and by burning wood and coal. If the toxic gas builds up in a confined, unventilated space, it can cause serious illness and death. If you suspect carbon monoxide buildup in your home, you must evacuate all people and pets immediately. You can buy battery-operated carbon monoxide detectors for your home. The battery should be replaced when you change the time on your clocks each spring and fall, the CDC says.
