(HealthDay News) -- Melanoma is a deadly form of skin cancer. But it can be prevented with some safe-sun practices. Follow these suggestions from the American Cancer Society to help reduce your risk:
- Keep your skin covered when outside with long sleeves, long pants and a hat.
- If you''re outside for a long time, head for the shade.
- Use sunscreen any time you are outside -- even if it''s cloudy. Be sure to apply it properly by following the instructions on the product.
- Wear sunglasses.
- Don''t use tanning beds.
- Look for any moles that look abnormal and have them checked by your doctor.
