(HealthDay News) -- If you or a loved one has a terminal illness, you may be considering hospice care.

According to Healthguide.org, the following typical hospice services represent a compassionate approach to end-of-life care:

  • Nursing care and physician services, including medication and symptom management.
  • Social worker services to help the family deal with the situation and act as an advocate for the patient.
  • Spiritual counseling.
  • Home health aide and homemaker services.
  • Physical, occupational and speech therapy.
  • Bereavement support.
