(HealthDayNews) -- It's spring -- the time of year when many schools administer standardized tests.
Help your kids stay sharp with these suggestions, courtesy of the Bastyr Center for Natural Health:
- Make sure your child gets a good night's rest before the test.
- Offer a rich source of protein for breakfast on the day of the test. Good choices include eggs, almond butter on toast, or a bowl of granola with nuts.
- If the test is in the afternoon, make sure your child eats lunch. Regular meals are important, since the brain needs glucose to function properly.
- Don't put too much emphasis on a test. Rather, ease your child's anxiety by helping him feel prepared.
