Tire Check

(HealthDayNews) -- Check the tires on your car before negotiating icy roads.

The grooves in your vehicle's tires should be at least 3/16 of an inch deep at the beginning of winter, according to Transport Quebec.

To measure the depth of a tire groove, take a quarter and place the coin in the groove. If the rubber doesn't cover three quarters of the coin, traction will be inadequate.

You should check various grooves in different places to detect any uneven wear.
