Health Tip: It's Not So Hard to Eat Healthy

(HealthDayNews) -- With the myriad of diets out there and experts debating the merits of the standard food pyramid, deciding how to eat healthy can be confusing.

The Mayo Clinic offers these basic principles:

  • Eat more fruits, vegetables and whole grains.
  • Cut your intake of saturated fats and cholesterol.
  • Limit sweets and salt.
  • Drink alcoholic beverages in moderation, if at all.
  • Eat moderate-sized portions and monitor the amount of calories you consume.

And, on a fitness note, be sure to include an exercise regimen in your daily routine, the clinic''s experts say.
