Health Tip: Options for Eye Twitch Treatment Limited

(HealthDayNews) -- Call it the mother of all eye twitches.

Blepharospasm is an abnormal, involuntary blinking or spasm of the eyelids, according to the National Eye Institute.

Most people develop the condition without warning, although possible signs may include fatigue, emotional tension or sensitivity to bright light. As the condition progresses, it could lead to facial spasms.

There is no cure, but treatment options can include oral medications or injections with Botox, more famous for its use as an anti-wrinkle treatment.

Another option is myectomy, a surgical procedure to remove some of the muscles and nerves of the eyelids.
