Health Tip: Rid Your Feet of Corns and Calluses

(HealthDay News) -- Corns and calluses are your feet''s way of telling you they''re unhappy with those fashionable pointy shoes.

Caused by repeated rubbing of your foot against the shoe, calluses form on the bottom of the foot, while corns emerge on the top of the foot and between the toes.

To get rid of these painful pests, the American Podiatric Medical Association sugges you wear supportive shoes with a wide toe box and a low heel. Use over-the-counter creams, but avoid any acid preparations. A pumice stone can help rid your foot of thinner rough patches.

If you''re diabetic, consult your doctor before trying any corn or callus remedy.
