(HealthDay News) -- Osteomyelitis, an inflammation of bone tissue that often stems from an infection, can affect people of all ages. Here''s a list of common symptoms, courtesy of the Loyola University Health System:
Blood tests, X-rays, a CAT scan and ultrasound may be used to diagnose osteomyelitis; treatment depends on a patient''s age, medical history, and the extent of the condition. Long-term complications could include stunted growth in children, fractures of the affected bone, and gangrene.
