Health Tip: Surgery Can Be Traumatic

(HealthDay News) -- Surgery can be traumatic enough without worrying about how to prepare.

The Loyola University Health System offers these suggestions before your procedure:

  • You may have to stop drinking and eating the night before the operation. Check with your doctor.
  • Bathe the area to be operated.
  • Don''t wear makeup, contacts or nail polish before surgery.
  • Inform the medical staff about prosthetic or hearing devices you may be wearing.

Make sure to bring your social security number and health insurance card to the surgery.
