Health Tip: Protect Your Feet From Corns

(HealthDay News) -- Corns are calluses on the feet that are caused by bones and skin pressing against your shoes. They usually appear on the tops of the toes or on the sides of the small toes, and can be quite painful.

The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons cites ill-fitting shoes as the biggest culprit. Use of high heels and not wearing socks also can lead to corns.

You can scrub your feet with a pumice stone to remove dead skin cells and reduce the size of your corns. Small protective pads can help ease discomfort and prevent corns from getting bigger.
