Health Tip: If Your Child Has a Fever

(HealthDay News) -- If your child has a fever, it''s sometimes difficult to decide whether to call a doctor.

According to Yale-New Haven Children''s Hospital, you should call the pediatrician:

  • If your child has a fever of 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or higher and she is younger than three months old.
  • If your child''s fever has persisted for more than 48 hours.
  • If your child will not stop crying, seems very pale, or has mottled skin.
  • If your child seems dehydrated and you can''t get her to eat or drink.
  • If she has significant pain in the ear or elsewhere, or if she has painful urination.
