Health Tip: Keep Your Health Resolutions This Year

(HealthDay News) - Many people make New Year's resolutions aimed at improving their health.

Whether your goal is to lose weight, stop smoking, eat healthy or another lofty ambition, here is advice on how to do so from the University of Maryland Medical Center:

  • Challenge yourself, but think about what you are able to accomplish. Set realistic expectations.
  • If you make a mistake or are unable to meet a goal, use it as a learning opportunity instead of feeling poorly about a missed chance.
  • Share your goals with others. You are more likely to follow through with resolutions if you've told others of your plans.
  • Make goals that are truly important to you, instead of citing objectives that you feel you should accomplish.
