French Doctors Perform Partial Face Transplant

LYON, France (Reuters) - French doctors said on Wednesday they had performed a partial face transplant, giving a new face to a woman disfigured in an attack by a dog.

A team led by Jean-Michel Dubernard, from a hospital in the French city of Lyon, said it carried out the operation on Sunday in the northern city of Amiens by attaching much of the face of a female donor to a 38-year-old woman.

"The patient is in an excellent state and transplant looks normal," Dubernard's team said in a statement.
